In the process of preparing for the birth of a child, the body is rebuilt, which is associated with some problems, including sleep disorders due to an uncomfortable sleeping place. It is very important to provide the expectant mother with a good rest during this period.

In The First Months Of Pregnancy

A woman may not experience discomfort. However, after a few weeks, when the tummy appears, it becomes more and more difficult to sleep in the usual way, because the longer the period, the stronger the load on the spine and the more difficult it is to sit comfortably during sleep.

At this time, you can no longer do without a properly selected mattress.

What Characteristics Should Maternity Mattresses Have?

  • balance of softness and stiffness;
  • hypoallergenicity;
  • air permeability.

A mattress for pregnant women should be as comfortable as possible and have good anatomical properties.

Spring-Based Mattresses

Models based on metal springs are reliable and have a long service life. On top they have flooring layers made of different materials – latex, coconut, holofiber and others. Mattresses with a dependent springs blocks, where all the elements are fastened into one system, are not recommended for pregnant women – they have hammock and wave effects, respectively, the spine is less supported.

Versions with an independent spring block have a different design. Each spring is autonomous: this allows the mattress to perfectly adapt to the silhouette of the body, give the necessary support to the back, and provide quality and deep sleep. When choosing a product, it is important to pay attention to the number of springs in mattress per square meter: for the necessary support, there should be at least 500 of them.

Springless Models

The design of the models is a monolithic block of one material and several layers of different fillers. Such mattresses are in no way inferior to springs in mattress in terms of anatomical and orthopedic characteristics. The advantages of springless mattresses include high anatomicality, which provides comfort, which is very important for the expectant mother.

It is best if the mattress is double-sided: one side is made of natural or artificial latex (PU foam), and the other is made of memory foam. Such a model can be turned over depending on changing needs for greater comfort.

Main Fillers:

  • Natural latex is a foam material with a microporous structure, which ensures breathability and hygiene. The foam filler bends elastically underweight, providing excellent anatomical properties. Unlike artificial latex, natural latex is very elastic and wear-resistant;
  • Memory foam is a soft, pliable material with a memory effect that follows the silhouette of a sleeper. It has no back pressure – the limbs do not numb on a mattress with a layer of memory. Models with this elastic filler are recommended even for the elderly.
  • Polyurethane foam is an artificial latex that imitates the properties of natural latex. In terms of its properties, it is practically not inferior to its natural counterpart, while being relatively inexpensive. Most often combined with other components to achieve the best properties.
